At Trimax, we design equipment that helps operators achieve more in less time — with machines built for strength, reliability, and real-world performance. The Force mulcher is no exception. Created for demanding horticultural environments, it combines robust construction with smart, simple design to deliver a clean, consistent finish.

We spoke with Tate Milan, Irrigation Supervisor at Talia Farms, about his experience upgrading to the Trimax Force.

One Pass. Perfect Finish.

Talia Farms manages over 200 hectares of premium horticultural land, where efficiency and finish quality are everything. After switching from a slasher to the Trimax Force, the team immediately noticed the difference.

“We’ve gone from a two-pass application down to a one-pass application now, so we’ve saved on time,” says Tate. “It’s performed great for us — quick, reliable and simple to maintain.”

The Force 205 fixed-mount model has become a daily workhorse for the operation. Maintenance is straightforward — just a quick wash-down, greasing two rotor bearings and the PTO shaft. “That’s about all there is for maintenance,” Tate adds. “It’s easy and low-cost to run.”

Built for Practical Performance

In horticulture, versatility matters. The Force gives operators flexibility to adjust quickly between jobs — from heavy mulching to light mowing.

“For mulching, we run the door shut right up so we can chew the canes as much as we can,” Tate explains. “Then when we change to cover crop mowing, we open the rear door right up so we can increase ground speed.”

This adaptability has helped the Talia Farms crew manage cover crops more effectively and stay on schedule through busy periods. “We can have a day’s notice, get in there, knock it down, and have contractors follow straight behind,” says Tate.

Stronger Finish, Faster Breakdown

Beyond time savings, the Trimax Force has lifted the farm’s presentation and efficiency.

“The Force has really helped us with leveling the rows,” Tate says. “With the slasher we couldn’t get down into the dirt, and the rotary hoe turned the soil too much. With the Force, we can eat into 20 to 50 millimetres of dirt and really level the rows out — it gives the boys a better centre row to work on.”

The result is a finer mulch and faster organic breakdown, improving soil health and creating safer conditions for foot traffic. “We can really cover some ground in less time now,” Tate continues. “It does a better job, cutting into finer particles and mulching it down to nothing left.”

Proven Relability

For the Talia Farms team, reliability and simplicity are non-negotiable — and that’s where the Trimax Force delivers.

“When we’re looking for machinery, we want something that’s simple and proven,” Tate explains. “The Trimax Force meets all of that criteria for us — easy, low maintenance, and it’s performed well.”

The success of the Force has even prompted the team to consider expanding their fleet. “We’re looking at adding a front-mount Force and running it in combination with a rear one. We’d be able to break down all our material in one pass — job done.”

The Bottom Line

For operations that value productivity, simplicity, and long-term reliability, the Trimax Force offers serious advantages.

“I highly recommend the Force to other customers,” Tate says. “A lot of vineyards are looking to move away from slashers to increase efficiency. The Force makes that step an easy one.”

THE
NEED.

Talia Farms needed:

  • A machine that could deliver a single-pass mulching operation to replace a previous two-pass system (saving time and tractor hours).
  • Finer mulch and better row finish to support downstream chores and soil health.
  • Reliable performance with minimal maintenance so the machine stays up and running when the season demands it.

THE
VALUE.

Trimax delivers:

  • A true one-pass mulcher solution — replacing multiple passes and cutting complexity from their workflow.
  • A machine that handles aggressive terrain and heavy residue, delivering a clean, consistent finish across orchards and vineyard inter-rows.
  • Built-in durability and service-friendly design that keeps maintenance time low and uptime high.
  • An intuitive operator experience — simple to set up, easy to run, and trusted by the team from day one.
